Team WTF?! is a loose association of a handful of Washington, D.C. area autocrossers.  The name was hatched when two of the founding members were doing a course walk in the rain at the DC ProSolo in June 2004.

The Answer is the question.

Welcome to Team WTF?!
The Road To Topeka
Written by clyde
Friday, 09 September 2005
John V and I made it safely to Topeka.  Our tires didn't though!  They should be here tomorrow...hopefully before our runs on the warm up course (last year's North course).  What are you gonna do? :dunno:  Anyway, that should let you know what kind of trip it's been so far.  Forgot the iPod at the house and I was really bummed.  45 minutes after realizing I forgot it, I remembered where it was...in the trunk, in my helmet... and retrieved it.

Saw some interesting wrecks on the way out, like an 18 wheeler that had jumped the Jersey barrier somewhere in Ohio.  Saw someone that we know (not one of us, but someone who will remain nameless) nearly have to make a choice of eating a bunch of cones on the freeway, or getting real neighborly with an 18 wheeler or RV.

Got the car washed up and Rejexed. We need to stickercharge the car in the morning and have plenty of other stuff to do.

Hopefully, I'll be able to post nightly updates.

Long live Team WTF?!

Or not.

Videos from the 2005 WDCR Solo II Championship Event #6.

Enjoy our "Fun with words" video. (I hope that you can all figure out what that means ;)).

The RX-8 videos need the latest version of Apple's Quicktime (currently version 7.0).  You may be able to stream them, but you can always fall back to right clicking and choosing "save as" if that doesn't work well.   Each of the RX-8 videos are about 13 MB.

The M3 videos are in Windows Media format.  Ken's video runs about 85 MB and Nick's runs about 65MB.

Clyde (RX-8)
Run 1 61.387
Run 2 59.975+4 (count them, and you'll see/hear at least 6)
Run 3 60.278+1
Run 4 60.356+1

John V (RX-8)
Run 1 59.934+1
Run 2 stopped for rerun
Run 3 58.882+2
Run 4 59.201+1
Run 5 59.530 clean (or was it? :dunno: )

The M3 videos are in Windows Media format..  Ken's video runs about 90 MB and Nick's runs about 71MB.

Like always, right-click and "save as"
Nick (E46 M3)

WDCR #5 Slammed! the Hotocross
Written by Administrator
Tuesday, 16 August 2005
The tone for the day was set with the weatherforecast of mid ot upper 90s, high humidity and lots of sunshine.  The arrival of Nick's M3 in the paddock made the day just that much more beautiful with his freshly slammed rear end.

Codriver and new Team WTF?! member Ken was none too happy to see the change and had a few choice words for Nick.  Nick's response was classic Team WTF?! What are you gonna do? :dunno:

Well, Nick knew enough to notch another Team WTF?! ASP class victory in the WDCR series edging out teammate bren by about 0.3 seconds and codriver Ken by 0.6.

The Team WTF?! B Stock competition is getting a little less competitive as John V's string of four consecutive event victories over Clyde grow ever more convincing.  Their combined class domination continues, though, with 1-2 class finishes at every event they have entered in the WDCR series this year.

The Team WTF?! RX-8 was also loaned to Jane this weekend for use in BSL.  While she adpated well to the car in short order, it wasn't quite enough for her to beat out her Team Garfield teammate in the combined Ladies class.  The competition there is tight and we wish Jane well!

Unfortunately, we were unable to take photos of the event this time out.  Next time?  Maybe.  WTF?! Who knows?

We do have video available, though.  On-car video from the Team WTF?! RX-8 has been posted (from a new angle too!) as has in-car video from the blue E46 M3.

Team WTF?! at MARRS 7
Written by Pinecone
Sunday, 14 August 2005
This weekend was the 7th race of the MARRS series and the 30th Anniversary of the MARRS series. And Team WTF?! was there. Weekend started in typical WTF fashion, but settled down to a reasonable, if VERY hot time. The #4 Team WTF?! car started 17th and finished 16th in a field of 27 starters. A couple of mistakes and some dropped coolant keep Pinecone from finishing higher.

Ron Katona Memorial Northeast Divisional Championship
Written by Administrator
Monday, 01 August 2005
(Updated Tuesday, August 2, 7:15pm)

Team WTF?! made some strong showings at the Ron Katona Memorial Northeast Divisional Championship hosted by the WDCR Region this past weekend hand had some real WTF?! moments to boot.

The standout performance was turned in by bren who drove the tires off on Sunday his ASP M3 to take second place behind Sam Strano after sitting in fourth at the end of Saturday's competition.

JohnV won B Stock in the RX-8. Clyde drove the same car to second place leaving a larger margin than he would have liked.  Then again, he could have driven like Nick (with or without brakes...doesn't matter) or had to scrub the event like JST, PInecone and BahnBaum.

JohnV and Clyde thought that Saturday morning between the walkthrough and driver's meeting would be a good time to install their newly acquired TeamRX8 front sway bar.  Um, well, maybe not.  As it turned out, they were lucky to finish and get the car to grid in what they thought was the nick of time to drive the fourth heat.

Sunday morning, Nick demonstrated the incredible frailty of Harbor Freight tools when all he had to do was look at a C-clamp that was about to be used in his brake pad replacement job for it to break into two parts.  In an effort to avoid a repeat of a recent fuel starvation issue, JohnV and Clyde took the RX-8 to a gas station (with numbers, decals, V710s and copious amounts of cone juice still on) to fill up a few gallons.  Only through sheer luck and deft precision driving skills, were they able to avoid being shanghaied into a custom car show at the Autozone next door to the gas station. :eek

Photos are available of (hopefully) every car that drove in heats 1-4 on Sunday grouped by car number (1xx and xx cars are grouped together).  Heats 5 and 6 drivers, we can only say sorry...WTF?! strike again.  What are you gonna do? :dunno:

Videos are now available.  Those that have enjoyed Clyde's running commentary in the past will not be disappointed. :eeps:
