WTF?! kind of event was that?

Team WTF?! hit some real high points, and fell to some real low points on Sunday to kick off the 2006 WDCR Solo Championship season.  There was rain, there was sun.  There was wind and there was none.  There was a course that couldn't be found by the people setting it up in the morning and a course that couldn't be found by some drivers that were trying to drive it.

In A Stock, Ken cleaned up...and is now dumping the S2000. Ken asked, "What else is there to prove?  Obadia may as well be put out to the Has-Been Hotel.  I just think I'll whip up on the poor guy in something else next time."  We wish you well, Ken.  We all know Greg's a hard closing genius, but he's a beggar, not a chooser.

Bren and Nick battled it out in the rainy third heat, going fourth and fifth in A Street Prepared. Since Bren started using real tires early last season, neither had placed worse than fourth in the WDCR Series.  While there were some fantastic drivers in ASP on Sunday (Pat Salerno and Junior Johnson to name two), Bren and Nick certainly weren't pleased with how they drove.

Asked what the problem was, Nick said, "Well, these tires were already dead last year, but you see I still thought that if I adjusted..." and he went and prattled on and on about something or other and how many changes he was going to make to the car for the next event before closing with, "But, hey, at least I beat Bren today."  And with that, he dropped the Wankermatic into gear and took off.  Moments later, the results were printed and posted, clearly showing Nick behind Bren.  What are you gonna do?

John V cracked open the can of whoop-ass on Clyde in B Stock...or did Clyde just drive with his head firmly planted between his cheeks?  The ones that he sits on?  The world may never know (or, who are we kidding? care), but the video of his third run may hold some clues.  That run came just moments after John V's "best run in four years."  Clyde's only comments after the day's competition were, "%^&% &(*% @*#% %$&@ **^!" Later, John V was heard to say, "I drove like ass too, but I didn't want to hurt Clyde's feelings."  It may be interesting to watch this battle as it develops...or maybe just fun to listen to.  Stay tuned, the first news will always be here.

Alex was the last Team WTF?! competitor to take to the course in the not quite twilight of the sixth heat.  He drove to unremarkable mid pack finish in STX in his 325is.  His real WTF?! moment of the day was arriving at oh-dark-thirty to help the setup crew so that he could take photos through his normal work heat.  "I enjoy standing around in parking lots all day," was all that he had to say.  Alex, you're friggin nuts, but we love you anyway!  Or maybe that's why we do.  Who knows? Who cares? What are you gonna do?
