The dust has settled on the WDCR 2006 Solo season.  Team WTF?! had their ups and downs and now it’s done.

For the day’s event, Team WTF?! saw three class victories, one second, two thirds, a fourth and, uh, two sixths.  For the year, Team WTF?! picked up two firsts, three seconds and a third.  An eleventh too, but keep that on the down low where Team WTF?! lives.

In B Stock, running what may have been the Team WTF?! RX-8’s final event as a Team WTF?! car, Clyde finally found his sand and let most of it out.  He put the smackdown on David Wade by running away from the rest of the class. “Yeah, it would have been nice to have driven like this in Topeka, but what are you gonna do?” :dunno:   Another second place season finish for Clyde in B Stock.

Meanwhile, with a B Stock season victory already in the bag, John V was able to experiment in Street Modified using a “real” SM car.  On his first run, he set the second place PAX time of the day and just smoked the rest of the 20 car field, beating the car owner, Ryan Carag, by nine tenths of a second.  “The car is sick.  No, I mean it scared me,” John V said after his first run. “I think Ryan might want to wipe down some of the unfortunate stains on the bottom of the driver’s seat, but they just couldn’t be helped.”  Ryan just said, “Right on.  No problem.”

In A Street Prepared, Brian H. was able to wrap up the ASP season championship with some hair on fire driving (oh wait, his hair was already burnt off…no, no…the other hair from what we hear, okay) in Jason Becker’s M Coupe.  Bren couldn’t get it going and drove to a disappointing third place finish.  Nick, remember him?  Well, still smarting from getting his ass kicked by a girl driving an AS legal car in BSP at the last event, thought he might be able to make a little magic by driving an AS legal car in ASP.  The magic was about as powerful as that of Geraldo opening Al Capone’s vault.  Better luck next year, Nick!

In A Stock itself, the most reluctant member of Team WTF?!, Greg Obadia, was only able to manage a third place finish to secure a rough spot in fourth for the year.  With a somewhat disheartening sixth place finish for the day, Ken found himself sitting in second for the year in A Stock, missing a first place finish by a single scant point.  We know that Ken would have liked a different outcome, but he is Team WTF?!  We get what we get and we don’t get upset.  Okay, we do get upset and have fun with words , but we take what we can get and keep going.

In B Street Prepared, Bobbie carried on the Team WTF?! ethos of fighting a very lost cause, taking second place in class for the event and the year behind Lee Piccione.

Over in Street Touring X, Alex had fun in his sixth place finish.  At least we think he had fun.  Why else would he keep coming out to event?  We couldn’t reach him for comment because he was off taking pics somewhere near the course.  And that’s why we love him.  And we’ll keep loving him until he comes to his senses and stops taking photos of everyone.  Then, we will hate him.  And call him names.  And throw sticks and stones at him.
